Via their arsenal of full-length and single releases, noise rock juggernauts Coliseum have seen their work issued via a plethora of record imprints. The band have, however, just revealed plans that they're about to stay put for a while with old friends Deathwish Inc.
Today (May 12) news of the signing was delivered in a press release, in which the band confirmed that they're set to issue their first record with Deathwish Inc. since the label pressed the "True Quiet" / "Last Wave" 7-inch in 2009.
"We have a long and storied history with Deathwish and their family of bands," band founder Ryan Patterson said in a statement. "Not only did we work with the label on the 'True Quiet' 7-inch, we've toured around the world with Deathwish bands, released a split with Doomriders early on, and I've been fortunate enough to design a number of Deathwish releases. While Coliseum officially joining the label's roster is a new chapter for us, it feels like a homecoming."
While details are still developing, Deathwish will kick off the partnership by reissuing Coliseum's 2004 self-titled debut on August 19, marking the first time the record will be in print on vinyl since 2006. The release had originally been offered up through Level Plane Recordings before that imprint went out of business, and this latest edition will feature a number of bonus tracks, in addition to set's original 12 songs.
Though a full tracklisting has yet to be delivered, Deathwish reports that eight additional tracks from the Coliseum's "primordial years" will also be included, with all of the songs having been recently remixed by Toxic Holocaust's Joel Grind. The set will feature redone artwork from Baroness's John Baizley and will feature new liner notes.
Over the years, Coliseum have issued material through Relapse Records, Patterson's Own Auxiliary imprint, Level Plane and more. Their most recent full-length was 2013's Sister Faith, which was issued through Temporary Residence Ltd.
