To celebrate the release of their Through The Noise DVD, Winnipeg hardcore vets Comeback Kid unleashed a mammoth Canadian tour. While the line-up included both hardcore legends and newcomers, what really set it apart was the diversity in bands.
Only two days before, Vancouvers Grave Maker rolled their van three times on the highway. Despite a brief hospital stay, the band made it intact, and their set was particularly epic. Then it was Maines Outbreak, who tore the place to shreds with their straight-up, pissed off hardcore.
Though a smaller venue would have caged their anger nicely, the band owned the Warehouses stage and kept the energy high for Shai Hulud. The legendary metalcore crew blasted through a long set of technical precision and bottled up rage, covering the old and new from their storied career. While it was clear that only a handful of kids knew the words, the band fought and won over the crowd.
Then it was time for posi-hardcore mainstays Bane to unleash their straight-edge fury on the crowd. Naturally, their approach was much less flashy, but the kids seemed to lose their shit on fan favourites like "Can We Start Again. After setting up their fancy banners, Milwaukees Misery Signals unleashed their polished but blistering metallic hardcore.
Once the lights dimmed and the opening chords of "False Idols Fall rang out, however, Comeback Kid were instantly crowned the nights champions. Ever since Andrew Neufeld made the jump from guitar to vocals, Comeback Kids live show has doubled in intensity. Flying through a set that included classics from all three of the bands albums, CBK played a fast, pissed, and most importantly fun set to top off this hardcore marathon.
