The Cool Kids may be one of the hottest acts in hip-hop right now - unless that backlash is for real - but one thing they aren't is quick on the release. (Hopefully their new label XL will try and help them speed things up...)
It took months, but felt like years for them to drop their long-awaited debut proper, The Bake Sale, and now here they are just a month or so later with another fresh mixtape to let us know that one setback won't slow them down from here on in.
According to Mikey Rocks and Chuck Inglish, That's Stupid! is their attempt to give "all the kids with new systems in their car something to ride to.. and all the girls at the beach something to dance too." It delivers, sure, thanks in part to host Mondo Fresco (L.A.'s Power 106) keeping it alive while the pair keep that hipster-bred flow shit-cool by dropping Run-DMC's "Rock Box" hook on an homage called "Dinner Time."
No surprises really. It's what we've come to expect from the party rappers, but considering the level they've brought it at so far, that's of course, a compliment.
