Earlier this month, Courtney Love denied rumours that she was working on a Broadway musical about the life of her late husband, grunge icon Kurt Cobain. Now, it looks as if Love will be celebrating the Nirvana star's legacy in a less flamboyant manner: with a documentary film.
The flick is reportedly being helmed by Brett Morgan, who is best known among music fans as the director of the Rolling Stones' new Crossfire Hurricane documentary. According to him, he and Love have been discussing the project since 2007 and are only now going ahead with it.
"Courtney is the one that brought me into this," he told the New York Post. "We've been trying to find the right time to put this film together and the time is now... Kurt was not only an amazing songwriter and musician, he was an incredible artist and filmmaker. So we are going to do the movie sort of like a third-person autobiography — [as] if Kurt was around and making a film about his life."
The film is expected to be out in 2014, but no concrete release information has yet to emerge.
In related news, 2013 marks the 20th anniversary of Nirvana's album In Utero. Both of the grunge group's other albums, Bleach and Nevermind, previously received deluxe 20th anniversary reissues, and members of the Nirvana camp have hinted that there may be a celebration of some sort for In Utero.
