While Kenton Loewen often keeps himself busy beating the skins for Dan Mangan, he also managed to issue his sophomore LP Mary Magdalene as the Crackling last month. Now, the artist will take his solo songs out on a Canadian tour.
Loewen and will be joined onstage on the trip by fellow Mangan backup vet Gordon Grdina on guitar; Tyson Naylor on keys, piano and accordion; Jeremy Page on bass; and John Raham on drums. Together, they'll start the trip out in Kelowna, BC, on May 28, and spend the next three weeks heading out as far east as Montreal before heading back to the West Coast for a tour closer at Vancouver's Biltmore Cabaret on June 22.

As previously reported, Mary Magdalene is said to feature 10 songs that let listeners "learn the consequence of harm, experience love through a filter of hope, ponder right and wrong, feel pain, understand perseverance and uphold the joy of love." You can sample the folky title track down below.
