Quebec's Cryptopsy is the most extreme death metal band Canada has to offer. And Then You'll Beg, the band's fourth full-length release, picks up where the band left off on1998's Whisper Supremacy and lays claim to the title of Canada's most brutal yet innovative band. Building on the rock-hard foundation laid by drummer Flo Mounier (one of the fastest grind drummers I've ever seen), the band weaves a blindingly intricate web of grinding metal that is as technically perfect as it is lightning fast. The band is not afraid to take chances with riffing and song construction, and often heads into uncharacteristic territory the same way more hardcore-based bands like the Dillinger Escape Plan do. The band is unafraid to attack the song instead of just playing it, something only the cream of the crop can do.
