Crystal Castles Book North American Tour with HEALTH, Talk New Album

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jul 26, 2012

Electro troublemakers Crystal Castles previously promised that they had a new record in the works, and the duo of producer Ethan Kath and singer Alice Glass have confirmed that they will release an album and hit the road in the coming months.

Following some summer European dates, the band will return to North America this fall for an extensive trek with HEALTH. This includes Canadian dates in Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg and Toronto. See the schedule below.

In album news, the band spoke with NME about their forthcoming collection. Kath revealed that the band are currently mixing the record in London, UK, following recording sessions in Warsaw, Poland. The release is scheduled for late September through Universal Republic/Casablanca in the U.S. and Fiction in the UK.

"There's lots of themes, but feeling, like, oppressed," Glass said. "A lot of things not personally happening to us, since the past record, but people we know kind of profoundly influenced everything. Like, I didn't think I could lose faith in humanity any more than I already had, but after witnessing some things, it just… the world is a dystopia. I'm one step away from being a vigilante. I've thought about it."

Kath, who produced the collection, reaffirmed his previous suggestion that the album wouldn't be a huge stylistic change from the duo's past work. He said, "There's no departure. We like how we sound. We don't wanna change."

He previously described the new songs as "bleak." You can hear what he's talking about by streaming the freshly unveiled "Plague" below. Expect more details about the new album to emerge in the coming weeks.
