One week ago to the day, we announced that Toronto, ON-based electro duo Crystal Castles would be dropping their long-awaited sophomore album. Their second self-titled effort was scheduled to be released on June 8 via Fiction/Last Gang Records, but due to the devious manoeuvers of some greedy fans, it leaked to the Internet almost instantly.
Rather than let the physical release sit in a box for weeks while everyone trades the files over the Internet, Crystal Castles have decided to release the album much earlier than expected.
How early, you ask?In an email to Exclaim!, the band's Canadian publicist says Crystal Castles will hit digital stores on Tuesday (April 27) in North America, with the physical album now tentatively coming out on May 25. In the UK, however, fans will be able to get the album digitally on Friday (April 23), according to reports. UPDATE: Via a press release, the band announced Crystal Castles will be out digitally in Canada on April 23 and get a physical release on May 18. In the U.S., the record will be out digitally on April 26 and physically on May 25.
In other words, if you'd rather not break the law and face irreparable damage to your conscience, you can pay for the new Crystal Castles album in a few days.
