Heavily hyped indie pop duo Cults were handed a buzz band's dream when they signed with Columbia Records last November. Now, we've learned that not only are they working with the major, but they're on a new imprint operated by Lily Allen.
As Gigwise reports, the sassy Brit was handed £100,000 to form her new label In the Name Of and her first order of business was to ink a deal with Cults. Back in 2009, Allen revealed a desire to run her own record label, saying, "I think things need to change in the music industry and we need to rethink a lot of stuff."
Cults are currently holed up with Vampire Weekend/Sleigh Bells/Fucked Up producer Shane Stoneback and at work on their major label debut, which is expected in May. As previously announced, they also have a North American tour coming up, the dates of which can be seen below.
