Victoria, BC's Current Swell are preparing to release Ulysses, their first album since winning a whack of cash in the Peak Performance Project in 2011, and now they've given us a better idea of what to expect from the record via the new track "Keys to the Kingdom."
While the previously unveiled "Rollin'" was a bluesy rocker, this tune is a little more laid back in its pop rock grooves, although there's still a hint of aggressive swagger to the guitars, and it culminates in a jam that mixes electrified loudness with harmonized sweetness.
Ulysses was produced by Nathan Sabatino (Dr. Dog, White Rabbits) at Vancouver's Greenhouse Studios. It's due out on May 6 through Nettwerk.
