This Oakland, California quartet kicks out some great ’60s psychedelic pop with just the right balance of garage punch and sugar-coated hooks. Their sound isn’t that far off from great punk bands like the Saints from the ’70s or garage greats like the Lyres in the ’80s with that mix of rock intensity and serious melodic intent. Andy Jordan’s peculiar warbling vocals have an emotive impact that really identifies the band. The set was recorded by Doug Easley at his Memphis studio and produced by rock’n’roll juggernaut Greg Oblivion, successfully capturing some true rock intensity on disc.
