Earlier this month, we learned that Damon Albarn had signed to Transgressive Records ahead of releasing a new record. Now, the Blur and Gorillaz frontman has officially announced his latest solo effort, The Nearer the Fountain, More Pure the Stream Flows, which is due to arrive through his new label home on November 12.

Originally conceived as a collection of orchestral pieces inspired by the Icelandic landscape, The Nearer the Fountain, More Pure the Stream Flows grew into a larger project throughout lockdown. The 11-track record is said to explore the themes of "fragility, loss, emergence and rebirth."

"I have been on my own dark journey while making this record and it led me to believe that a pure source might still exist," Albarn said of his forthcoming sophomore solo album in a release.

The work will follow his 2014 solo record, Everyday Robots. This year, Albarn has contributed to a posthumous Tony Allen album and a Paul McCartney covers LP. In 2020, he also teased a forthcoming Gorillaz film.

Today, Albarn has shared the album's title track, which you can hear below. There you can also find the album's tracklisting.
