Members of Oasis, Foo Fighters, Coldplay and the Who have donated instruments, VIP concert tickets and platinum records to a new charity auction benefiting the Imelda & Mani Mounfield Fundraiser, and Damon Albarn has left his mark on the item he offered up.
The Blur and Gorillaz member donated his personal Taylor acoustic guitar to the auction, inscribing it with a message explaining its rough shape: "Not in the best condition, but very well used for writing over the last ten years, genuine working guitar, with love Damon Albarn 2022 x."
In addition to normal wear and tear, the artist made note of a particularly banged-up area of the instrument on which he apparently chews in the depths of his songwriting process: "I chew here when writing."
Whether this tidbit adds or detracts from the item's market value is up for debate; the guitar's asking price is set at £1,400, with its highest bid sitting at £1,350 as of press time, landing it a few hundred pounds higher than it was expected to fetch.
With five days left on the auction over at Adam Partridge Auctioneers & Valuers, you still have time to get your hands — or teeth — on this tasty piece of music memorabilia.
