"Call Me Maybe Acapella 147 Times Exponentially Layered" (Carly Rae Jepsen remix)

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jul 3, 2012

It's official: Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe," as charming a Top 40 pop song as it is, has finally jumped the shark. A new online comp titled, what else, Call Me Maybe has collected 43 interpretations of the track. If you have the time or patience to listen to the whole thing, go right ahead, but we're going to skip over the bulk of the home-recorded tributes/piss takes and zoom in on electronic mastermind Dan Deacon's "Call Me Maybe Acapella 147 Times Exponentially Layered."

We're going to take his word for it on the exact figures, but Deacon's attempt at the pop song plies on a cappella take after a cappella take "Row Row Row Your Boat" style. It makes for a powerfully poppy affair until Deacon starts deconstructing the samples into a cacophonous soundscape.

Give it a spin below.
