Dan Deacon definitely lays out his sonic manifesto forthright on the tellingly titled upcoming Record Store Day 7-inch Konono Ripoff No. 1, as evidenced by the newly unveiled A-side of the same name.
The track features what sounds like super-sped-up samples of the African outfit's heavenly likembe melodies, though Deacon has jumped-up the cut with the frantic dual drummer patterns of Kevin O'Meara and Jeremy Hyman, and added some tripped-out scratches and vocals to boot. It makes for a busier listen than the playful source material, but it's still worth a spin. You can check it out in the player down below.
Domino drops the 7-inch on April 20 as part of Record Store Day.
