The Adult Swim team's recent dip into surreal genre parodies (see the sitcom- and sanity-skewering Too Many Cooks) has led them to bring electronic artist Dan Deacon into the mix to both score and star in an infomercial send-up called Unedited Footage of a Bear.
The recently premiered short, which you can see down below, delivers exactly what it claims in its first few seconds, with a tranquil ursine character just enjoying the great outdoors. It quickly shifts into a commercial for allergy spray Claridryl, which comes with several warnings that the medicine "targets where you're most vulnerable, acts immediately and lasts indefinitely." What follows is a psyche-exploding run-down of a hay fever-suffering woman's bad day at the hands of a violent doppelgänger.
Deacon, as you can see up above, makes a mini-appearance as a detective. Matmos' M.C. Schmidt also appears as a detective. The score, meanwhile, goes from light and airy piano music, to skittering white noise to the discombobulated bounce of a drunken brass section and more metallic moments. You'll see the whole twisted piece down below.
In other news, Deacon has his next LP, Gliss Riffer, set to land February 24 via Domino.
