Serbian-Canadian musician Dana Gavanski is offering a preview of new music to come with fresh single "Letting Go" — a generous serving of psychedelic pop out now via Flemish Eye.
The track serves as a talisman for the artist; despite the bleakness of the lyrics, she finds respite amongst the music. "It's like a little mantra for me to sing," Gavanski said in a press release. "Though maybe it's a tad unconventional being that it's not necessarily the kind of positive message we all associate with pop mantras."
Gavanski revealed that the single took on an experimental dynamic for her: "It's more of an account of how the mind works to undermine us. It's a subverted mantra. In the chord sequence, I was trying to excite my ears and explore different melodies."
The accompanying Laura-Lynn Petrick-directed video sees Gavanski's arms reaching out to the sky and viewers in near-worship, operating in perfect tandem with her soaring, reverent vocals.
"Letting Go" follows the artist's debut album Yesterday Is Gone and her covers EP Wind Songs released in 2020.
