Daniel Romano is a few weeks away from releasing his new LP Modern Pressure, and before the album arrives, the former Attack in Black member has shared a new video for album cut "Sucking the Old World Dry."
The clip, directed by Daniel himself, finds Ian Romano and Kay Berkel down to their skivvies running carefree through a lush field dotted with blossom trees. Though the scenery is certainly nice, it holds a deeper meaning to Daniel.
In a statement, he explains:
We will use the beauty of what is still flourishing to inspire our dismembered minds to bloom. To bloom into something restorative — a suture for the world's deepest wounds. These methods will be secret. These minds will be crucified by imperialistic, fascist war lords. But perhaps it will still triumph. If while we strip the land, we also strip ourselves, we will resonate together in our empathetic remorse — a redemptive offering we extend for every stripped spring bud of the sour cherry.
We have never been a species of defensive action. We are and have always been reactive.
Art is reactive. And as the last remaining western industry, perhaps its reactions will germinate in the impending landless-scape. We have never in history been so informed, it has never been harder to ignore.
The question remains, when the mould covers our every wall, will we chose to go outside?
Modern Pressure arrives May 19 via New West Records/You've Changed. Watch the video for "Sucking the Old World Dry" in the player below.
