Darkest Hour Announce Release Date, Title for New Album

Washington, DC hardcore thrashers Darkest Hour recently let slip some advance information about their upcoming album, which will be their first for E1 Records after ten years on hardcore institution Victory Records.

The new LP, dubbed The Human Romance, will be released on February 22, guitarist Mike Schleibaum told Metal Injection during a recent interview, joking about how the band's new label might not be pleased that he's telling the media this information already.

And he didn't stop there. Schleibaum went on to say the album was produced by Swedish extreme metal guitar hero Pete Wichers of Soilwork, who "put his hand of doom on the whole thing." Schleibaum also said that the album marks a change of sound for the band; while it contains some technical elements, he says Darkest Hour reached the apex of where they can go with that sound on 2007's Deliver Us, so this album has more of a focus on simple, "jamming" songs.

Schleibaum added that there's a new level of excitement in the band due to them switching over to E1 Records (Crowbar, Hatebreed, Overkill, High on Fire) and this rejuvenation will come through on the album, which follows up last year's The Eternal Return.

The Human Romance will be Darkest Hour's seventh full-length album.
