Toronto alt-rock act Dearly Beloved released their album Hawk vs Pigeon back in 2012, and now they are preparing to deliver the follow-up almost exactly two years later. Enduro is due out on May 13 through eOne Music Canada.
The album was made at Rancho de la Luna in Joshua Tree, CA. Sessions took place during a very busy period of touring, and the band made their way to that facility the morning after a cross-Canadian trip. Desert rockers Dave Catching (Eagles of Death Metal) and Chris Goss (Queens of the Stone Age) both contributed guitar, while mixing was handled by Adam Kasper (Pearl Jam, Queens of the Stone Age, Foo Fighters)
A press release notes that the songs are inspired by "guard rails, an orange moon, taxi drivers, a home invasion, ether binges, astral light and the guile of some."
Bassist Rob Higgins said in a statement, "If we didn't feel it in the car, at high speed, it was cast aside. I actually wrote the lyrics on a solo 10-day road trip that started in the motel where Gram Parsons died and covered about 3,000 kilometres of the Southern California highway system. Having our demos with me and the benefit of that freedom was inspiring and made for an experience that suited the making of the music."
