Back in the spring, music fans heard the sad news that Decemberists co-founder Jenny Conlee had been diagnosed with breast cancer. They gave a subsequent update about her condition, but we hadn't heard much about her health for some time. Well, we've got some good news for you: she's officially on the mend.
This promising news comes from a tweet from singer Colin Meloy, who yesterday (October 20) wrote, "For those of you wondering, saw Jenny this week; our girl's officially in remission! #teamjenny #beyondchemodome."
Once Conlee's well enough, we can expect her to return her focus to the Decemberists. She's clearly eager to resume her multi-instrumental duties; if you remember, she originally hoped to rejoin the group on the road as early as late summer.
Meanwhile, the Decemberists will drop their Long Live the King EP on November 1 through Capitol. If you pre-order a copy from the group's official website, you'll be entered to win a deluxe edition box set featuring a DVD, CD, vinyl, a clothbound photo book, a signed print and an original Polaroid.
Thanks to AUX for the tip.
