Earlier this week, we learned that Tom Waits, as well as Justin Bieber, Zooey Deschanel, Wild Flag's Carrie Brownstein and her Portlandia pal Fred Armisen, would make an appearance on The Simpsons' upcoming 24th season. Well, it turns out you can add one more musical act stopping by this season, and it's Portland-based popsters the Decemberists.
Band leader Colin Meloy confirmed the appearance, and tweeted a pic of him and the rest of his group rendered for the Simpsons universe, overbites and all. "Oh wow. This is happening," he wrote.
The episode is titled "The Day the Earth Stood Cool," and it will air, fittingly enough for Meloy's outfit, December 2. According to TVLine, the episode will feature a "cool family from Portland" (played by Armisen, Brownstein and comedian Patton Oswalt) moving in next door. Wacky hi-jinx no doubt ensue.
The Portland connection clearly ties into the Oregon pop band's appearance, and judging by that leaked still, Mrs. Krabappel's class is going to get quite a show during show-and-tell.
