Deerhunter fans, we have good news and bad news. The good? The Georgian fivesome have finally secured the release date for their upcoming and much talked about album, Microcastle. The bad? Its not coming out on Halloween day as singer Bradford Cox originally told us. Instead, the bands sophomore effort will hit October 28 via Kranky in North America and on 4AD everywhere else. And while this date may be close to Halloween, it would have just been so much more rocknroll to release the album on the actual day of tricks and treats. But, hey, at least they were close.
Along with the release date, Deerhunter have also revealed the albums very 4AD artwork, Microcastles tracklisting and plans for their first single, a limited edition seven-inch of "Nothing Ever Happened and "Neither of Us, Uncertainly. They have also reminded us that Microcastle was recorded in one week at Brooklyn's Rare Book Studios with Nicolas Verhes and features band members Cox, Moses Archuleta, Lockett Pundt, and Joshua Fauver. However, neither the bands new guitarist Whitney Petty nor older one Colin Mee are on the album. Pundt sings lead on two songs, though ("Agoraphobia" and "Neither of Us, Uncertainly"), and Black Lips' Cole Alexander contributes to a vocal collage on the track "Saved by Old Times."
And despite Microcastle not coming out until October, Deerhunter have a chunk of tour dates coming up, many of which put them in the high-profile position of opening for Nine Inch Nails.
Here is the tracklisting for Microcastle followed by those tour dates:
