Not that we expected anything groundbreaking on a new studio album from Deicide, and not that we expect anything good from Roadrunner Records (anymore), but one still can't help but feel let down that a group this talented continues to write stale and mouldy death metal. In Torment In Hell is eight songs in 31 minutes of no-frills, straight-ahead Deicide: same four guys, same recording studio, same lyrics, same sound, hell, same songs. We're being suckered here, because I bought a brilliant album in 1992 called Legion, and since then Deicide has re-recorded and re-released that album countless times under different titles. Once on top of the genre, these guys have become an annoying Satanic parody of something that once was quite terrifying.
