Diamond Rings Inks U.S. Deal with Astralwerks

Over the past year, Toronto songwriter John O'Regan has scored massive accolades with his Diamond Rings project, releasing his debut album, opening for Robyn and even gracing the cover of Exclaim! Now, this success has paid off, in the form of a record deal with Astralwerks.

In a post on his official website today (April 20), aptly titled "Astral Werking it," O'Regan wrote, "Sharing the same label as Kylie Minogue, Pet Shop Boys, and Bryan Ferry (among others) is a dream come true and quite honestly still feels a bit surreal!"

Astralwerks, a subsidiary of EMI, will re-release the beloved Special Affections in the U.S. on June 21. Secret City Records will still be handling Diamond Rings' future Canadian releases.

Secret City boss Justin West said in a press release, "I've spent a lot of time with the Astralwerks team over the last few months and I can honestly say that they are the perfect fit for Diamond Rings. We couldn't be happier to have them on board and developing his career outside of Canada."

Now that O'Regan has a major label behind him, can we expect his glammy pop showmanship to get even more elaborate?
