While Nashville, TN's Diarrhea Planet quite literally have one of the shittiest band names out there, there's still plenty of buzz surrounding the project. The band's four-guitar approach to pop-rock continues this year, with a new album titled Turn to Gold due to plop into eardrums June 10 through Dine Alone in Canada and Infinity Cat elsewhere.
An interview with Buzzfeed explains that the group's third full-length release, which follows 2013's I'm Rich Beyond Your Wildest Dreams, was recorded at Nashville's Sputnik Sound.
Vance Powell (Jack White, Jars of Clay, Insane Clown Posse) engineered Turn to Gold, and co-produced with Mike Fahey. It's explained that much of the recording was done live off the floor.
"You know, the beauty of being a great live band is that you get really good at playing," Powell told Buzzfeed of the recording process. "So the way that I set them up in here was exactly how they play live. They all play exactly in the same spot. They're all playing together, and that's what they do really well. So yeah, there are times when Evan's amp is making the snare drum rattle. Yeah, it's in the recording, It happens. Did that make the song suck? No."
While a full tracklisting has yet to appear, Diarrhea Planet are previewing the album with a stream of its "Life Pass." You'll find the charged-up piece of modern guitar rock down below.
