Dinosaur Jr.

"I Don't Wanna Go There"

As we previously mentioned, J, Murph and Lou are returning for yet another new Dinosaur Jr. album, this time released by Jagjaguwar. Farm is set to drop with this pretty sweet and very baked artwork on June 23, but as we've come to expect from the boys, they've prepped a single to tide over those with the munchies. Along with a wonky re-recording of You're Living All Over Me's "Tarpit," "I Don't Wanna Go There" comes as a tour-only seven-inch that Jag is describing as "a meat-and-potatoes main dish, mixing unapologetic lead guitar with straight-ahead delivery, á  la James Gang or Humble Pie."

What I hear is more of that classic '80s Dinosaur mud, where J's guitar leads the way with a tone in that perfect middle ground between fuzz and sludge, and then at 2:13 unsheathes a virulent solo that hangs out for a bit.
