A couple of years back, Built to Spill members Doug Martsch and Brett Nelson gave themselves an electro makeover with their new wave-tinged the Electronic Anthology Project. Now, Nelson has teamed up with Dinosaur Jr.'s white-haired axe-wizard J Mascis for The Electronic Anthology Project of Dinosaur Jr., which will come to indie retailers this Record Store Day (April 21).
According to TwentyFourBit, only 500 of these records will be pressed (all of them on purple vinyl), meaning that you'll likely have to battle it out with your fellow Record Store Day patrons in order to score a copy. There's no word as to whether there will be a digital version.
Pitchfork confirmed that Mascis sings on every song. A tracklist has yet to emerge, but we're already imagining the Dinosaur Jr. frontman singing "Freak Scene" against a synth-spiked backdrop.
This is the latest in a string of releases from the Dinosaur Jr. camp which include a bobblehead and a concert DVD.
