In recent years, Dinosaur Jr. have chronicled their history with an archival live album, synth-pop covers and a cassette box set. Now, the veteran alt-rock outfit are once again looking to the past, this time by releasing a coffee table book. Dinosaur Jr. by Dinosaur Jr. will be out in November through Rocket 88.

This official tome examines the band from their high-school days all the way up to the present. It includes pictures from friends and photographers who have been with the band since their early days, plus flyers, memorabilia, fanzine interviews, contracts and other candid materials.

Along with the visuals, the book includes interviews with members J Mascis, Lou Barlow and Murph, plus past members Mike Johnson and George Berz, as well as various friends of the band.

The book is available in two editions. The 216-page "Classic Edition" is a large format, full-colour hardback. It costs £40 ($64.71) plus shipping.

There's also a two-volume "Signature Edition," which comes with a special signed copy of the standard book, plus a tour diary from friend/roadie John Fetler dating back to 1987 and 1988. He also took lots of behind-the-scenes photographs. This will come in a clamshell box with two prints of original Dinosaur Jr. artwork, one of them by J Mascis. This costs £250 ($404.42), plus shipping.
