As previously reported, today (May 13) marks the release Dirty Projectors' new remix single behind Swing Lo Magellan track "The Socialites." We had previously heard a revamp from the set courtesy of Hot Chip's Joe Goddard, and you can now stream the single's swoon-worthy interpretation from UK duo AlunaGeorge.
Opting out of the high-concept swerves of the R&B-exploring original, AlunaGeorge recasts the Amber Coffman-sung cut with a candlelit arrangement of chimes and organ before sneaking in a mild bass boom and pitch-shifted vocal samples. The extra lax back-section folds Egyptian cotton-soft synths and sneaker squeaks into the mix.
"The Socialites" remix single is available digitally and on 12-inch wax now via Domino.
As for AlunaGeorge's upcoming Body Music LP, the record has apparently been pushed from its originally reported July 1 street date to July 15.
