Chicago krautrock enthusiasts Disappears last left us with 2012's Pre Language, though the band are already in the planning stages for another LP. Before that happens, though, the group will offer up a bite-sized sampling of new tunes via the upcoming Kone EP.
A press release for the three-song set, which the band will serve up themselves on April 16, notes that this is the first recorded material from the act since the amicable departure of Sonic Youth skinsman Steve Shelley. Noah Leger (Electric Hawk, Anatomy of Habit) now mans the drum kit.
Recorded at Chicago's Minbal studio and mixed in Dallas by John Congleton, the independently delivered 12-inch single features 30 minutes of music: the epic title track, an edit of that song on the B-side that ends on an infinite locking groove, and a new number called "Kontakt." Kone is limited to 1,000 copies and can be pre-ordered through the band over here.
Disappears have some tour dates lined up in the U.S. this spring, which may find the group premiering tunes from an impending full-length called Era, which is due on Kranky later this year.
