Surprise! With a new tour on the horizon, beatmaker DJ Shadow has released an EP called Liquid Amber and launched a new imprint, also called Liquid Amber.
The 11-minute EP consists of three new cuts: the spooky shapeshifter "Ghost Town," the quirkily bloopy "Mob" and a remix of "Six Days" from Machinedrum. In an announcement, DJ Shadow said that this remix "was something I asked Machinedrum to knock out as a tour weapon, and he crushed it (naturally), so I felt it deserved a proper release."
Listen to the EP below and download it here.
As for the Liquid Amber imprint, DJ Shadow will use it release his own songs and possibly other folks' music too. It will be primarily digital, but physical releases will arrive occasionally. He plans to keep it "low-key and fun."
As previously reported, DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist are about to head out on a North American tour, where they will be spinning wax culled exclusively from the hip-hop pioneer Afrika Bambaataa. You can see all the dates here.
