"Then there's a lyric that, in context, stings," sings Joe Keery — a.k.a. Djo — as he reflects on visiting an old apartment in a city he no longer calls home. "The immediate pain it brings / That song you used to sing."

It's at the end of this line that we're brought up to speed in "Delete Ya," the latest preview of his forthcoming new album The Crux. It's a song about heartbreak, but, in that earlier moment, it's also a song about a song, and I want to know what that song is!

If the album sounds anywhere near as good as "Delete Ya," everyone should be interested. Here, Djo resurrects the ultra-modern take on timeless nostalgia that made "End of Beginning" from 2022's DECIDE an unprecedented viral sensation: a time capsule from psychedelic-streaked '80s pop rock that weaves its melancholy through an irrepressible mid-tempo groove.
