Dolly Parton is good. If nothing else, at the very least we can all agree on that. The woman is one of the few (if any) multimillionaires who actually kind of deserves a commemorative statue, but she's also too cool to allow that to happen. She's funded vaccines, donated literally millions of books, and typically manages to throw her considerable goodwill behind causes that matter. And that's to say nothing of "Jolene" or "Light of a Clear Blue Morning." It's nice to have her around!
And now, she's gone ahead and added another tick in the "Dolly Parton rules" column — it was announced today that Dollywood (the Tennessee theme park and resort co-owned by Parton) will pay 100 percent of tuition fees for all employees looking to pursue secondary education, including books and all fees. The offer stands for all employees whether they be full-time, part-time or seasonal, and is available from their first day on the job.
The sometimes insurmountable cost of schooling (and the child care, transportation and myriad other costs associated with it) is the number one deterrent for people who want to pursue further education, so this is pretty major. Yay Dolly! And yay Dollywood employees!
