Fans of Donald Glover's Atlanta are expecting both the show's third and fourth seasons to arrive at some point this year, and he's now confirmed that production on the first batch of episodes is underway.
Late Friday (April 2), Glover shared a photo on Instagram of himself and co-stars Lakeith Stanfield, Zazie Beetz and Brian Tyree Henry in front of a camera, officially signalling "Day 0" of shooting.
In January 2020, FX Networks and FX Productions chairman John Landgraf shared that Season 3 and Season 4 would be filmed at the same time, adding that "a good chunk" of the new episodes would be shot outside of the United States.
An initial timeline, which has since been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, planned for a 10-episode third season to arrive in January 2021, with an eight-episode fourth season to follow in the fall of 2021. At this point, though, it's unclear when new episodes could arrive.
Atlanta's second season, which featured 11 episodes, aired back in 2018. Late last year, Glover teased that the forthcoming crop of episodes were going to be the best television since The Sopranos.
