The Doobie Brothers are set to reunite with former frontman Michael McDonald for a 50th anniversary tour.
The 30-date North American tour, set to kick off June 9 in Florida, will mark McDonald's first outing with Tom Johnston, Pat Simmons and John McFee in nearly 25 years. A lone Canadian date will bring them to Toronto's Budweiser Stage on July 19.
As Rolling Stone points out, the group announced the date while closing out a show last night at Nashville's Ryman Aduitorium. McDonald joined his former bandmates for an encore where they performed "Takin' It to the Streets," the title track of his first album recorded with the band.
"We're truly excited about our 50th Anniversary Tour, as it's a celebration of the band's entire history," Johnston said in a statement. "We'll be performing songs from our full catalog, as well as new music."
McDonald joined the Doobie Brothers in 1975 and appeared on four albums before leaving the lineup in 1982. Following his departure, he performed with the group as a guest on multiple occasions.
