DOOM Announces New Live Album

As we've documented, a live show from masked hip-hop villain DOOM might not mean the rapper will show up. Often accused of hiring impostors (something he's even admitted to), DOOM's live experience has come secondary to the fact that he writes and records some of the most interesting hip-hop music around. With a new live album on the way, there's a chance we might be listening to the audio of an impostor lip-syncing to DOOM's a cappella tracks. But at least they'll be the songs we've grown to love.

The live record is called Expektoration and is due out this fall. According to a press release, the album's title comes from a quote that opens the recording: "Expectoration, or spitting, is a common side effect of speaking Klingon. Until you are used to it, keep a napkin or handkerchief nearby." While an official tracklisting has not yet been released, rumour has it that the album heavily features tracks from Madvillainy and MM...Food, as well as the odd Operation: Doomsday and King Geedorah track. Sounds tantalizing, although time will tell if the live versions offer more than the studio albums that already dominate our playlists.

Golddust-Media will drop Expektoration on September 14. A mini-site is expected here soon.
