Don't Need A Reason

Downpresser titled their first full-length album Don't Need a Reason. And while you don't necessarily need one to check this out, especially in the day and age of illegal downloading, there are plenty. For starters, Downpresser play metallic hardcore, the bastard child of metal and hardcore, managing to maintain hardcore's energy while playing music as crushingly heavy as most metal ever gets. They do this in a time where their obvious influences — Merauder, Buried Alive, All Out War, etc. — have either passed their prime or passed away (metaphorically speaking). And the best part: Downpresser sound nowhere near their best-before or expiry date. Instead, they've served up the heaviest slab of 2013 metallic hardcore this side of that Incendiary LP. Even more impressive, they accomplished this with more diversity and energy than their peers' equally crushing, though ultimately single-speed, effort. And if that wasn't a good enough reason for you, there are 11 of them contained on what will undoubtedly be one of the best hardcore releases of the year.
