Almost a year to the date that they parted ways with founding member/vocalist ZP Theart, British progressive metal collective DragonForce have officially announced their new frontman: Oxford, England native Marc Hudson.
After applications, demos and numerous try-outs from hopefuls around the globe, the previously unknown 23-year-old singer apparently wowed the band with his vocal mixture of Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson, Helloween's Michael Kiske and Skid Row's Sebastian Bach.
"I'm really excited about being a part of the DragonForce family," Hudson says in the band's official statement. "It's always been my dream to dedicate my life to making music. I'm going to bring all the power and emotion I can to the songs and help make the killer new record the fans have been waiting for!"
Adds founding member and guitarist Herman Li: "After almost a year of searching around the globe, it's great to be able to finally tell our fans the good news. Marc's expressive and melodic vocals are sounding phenomenal on the new songs, adding another dimension to the DragonForce sound that I am sure all the fans will love."
DragonForce will now finish recording their follow-up to 2008's popular Ultra Beatdown, an album they've been working on since early 2010. It is expected to see a September release.
