Toronto poster boy Drake may have made a childhood dream come true when he hosted his birthday party at an actual freaking castle last month, but it turns out he may have treated himself to an even more ridiculous celebratory gift.
In a new profile by The Hollywood Reporter, Drake revealed that he was eyeing a first edition copy of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone that recently went up for auction — for a whopping $160,000 USD, or roughly $200,000 CAD.
After gushing about the beloved children's series with the reporter, Drake seemed to talk himself into making the investment.
"I should get it," he said during the interview, which took place in September. "My birthday's coming up. Maybe I'll buy it for myself as a treat."
The writer later followed up and asked if he'd bought the book yet. "Nah, not yet," he said. "But I will. My birthday is still a few days away."
On September 14, a first edition copy of the first Harry Potter book was sold at auction in Dallas for a mere $81,250, though there's no word on whether Drake was the one behind the purchase.
Of course, news of the pricey potential birthday gift isn't the first time we've heard about Drake's love of all things Potter. Back in 2014, he shared a truly amazing Photoshop job reimagining himself as Draco Malfoy. Like a real nerd, he posted it with the hashtag #DrakeOMalfoy.
