After voicing his skepticism for years, Drake has decided he can win some Grammys as a treat. His music is now eligible to win the award once again, as he's submitted his album with 21 Savage, Her Loss, for consideration.
A source told The Hollywood Reporter that the record has been submitted for both Album of the Year and Best Rap Album — while its tracks "Rich Flex" and "Spin About U" are being considered for categories like Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song and Best Melodic Rap Performance.
Besides the Her Loss submissions, Drake's tracks with Travis Scott ("Meltdown") and Young Thug ("Oh U Want") are also up for consideration.
It's important to note that Drake or 21 Savage may not have submitted the album or songs. Academy members involved in making records are able to submit songs or albums they've worked on — including Academy producers, engineers and songwriters.
Drake has made his gripes with the Grammys publicly known, skipping ceremonies and backing up the Weeknd when he called the awards "corrupt." After Certified Lover Boy was nominated for two Grammys, he pulled his music from consideration. He also chose not to submit Honestly, Nevermind. Despite this, he still won Best Melodic Rap Performance at the 2022 Grammys for his verse on Future's "Wait for U."
Her Loss came out last November, but is eligible for the 2024 Grammys since the period of eligibility ran from October 1, 2022, to September 15, 2023. Drake just released his latest album, For All the Dogs, last week.
