The 3rd Decade EP

A year ago, Perc Trax dropped a set of remixes of "Phosphene," an acid techno burner from the Drax Three EP. That slice of wax originally drew breath way back in 1993, setting off a decade-long series of Drax recordings on Thomas Heckmann's own Trope and Wavescape labels. Now, Perc Trax are at it again, this time unleashing the first original Drax material since Heckmann retired the moniker back in 2002.

The 3rd Decade pits classic Heckmann acid ("Acid Brick") against darker grooves ("Razorblade" and "Low Machine"), which he usually saves for release under his Heckmann guise. Perhaps rubbing elbows with Perc and Truss has influenced the legendary producer a touch, but fans of banging acid techno won't be disappointed by the twisting A side of this multifaceted release. Heckmann's pulled off a coup, as those looking for more of his spookier, EBM-related material will be satiated by this as well.
