Bad news, everybody. It's come out that the Daft Punk-brand "Get Lucky" condom might not actually be real, or at least not an official product.
While yesterday (July 10) a picture displaying the packaging of the Daft Punk prophylactic made the rounds on the internet, supposed co-conspirators Durex have now issued a statement denying they're affiliated with the product.
In a message directed to Mixmag, representatives wrote: "The makers of Durex are aware of reports that Durex has launched Daft Punk branded condoms following their hit single 'Get Lucky'. There is no Durex promotion or partnership with Daft Punk in the UK or any other markets and Durex are not posting free packs to the world's top DJs as suggested."
Further sleuthing from Mixmag suggests that the picture may be part of a prank pulled by Diplo, who posted the image on his Instagram before it went, um, viral. However, Sony Music Belgium also Instagrammed images of the condoms, hinting that they may exist but not be associated with Durex.
Nevertheless, the condom makers are still hoping that, should you "Get Lucky," you use their regular products. They wrote: "We do hope that by using Durex condoms the nation will continue to make sweet music together and have great sex."
