Eamon McGrath Details 'Young Canadians,' Announces Canadian Tour

BY Alex HudsonPublished Feb 22, 2012

Eamon McGrath has already performed his forthcoming Young Canadians in full in concert, but now the rock-loving Toronto-based songwriter is getting ready to release the real thing.

The 12-song collection is due out April 10 via White Whale Records. A press release notes that this patriotic LP was "conceived during a coffee and Baileys-fuelled writing session after Sidney Crosby's winning goal that signalled Canada's 2010 gold medal victory against the USA." The resulting songs are filled with "lovers, regrets, secrets, guitars, alcohol, ghosts, dive bars, and motels."

It was recorded at Vancouver's JC/DC studio. McGrath previously told Exclaim! that the collection touches on "the experiences I've had being Canadian and trying to figure out what about this country defines it."

As for the sonics, he noted, "This is a lot more diverse in sound. It's way more all over the map. There's a lot of noise on it but then there's some tender country songs."

To promote the release, McGrath will be taking Young Canadians on an Exclaim!-sponsored spring tour across -- where else? -- Canada. Scroll past the tracklist to see the schedule and go to Facebook for more information.
