Twenty years after vegan straight edge force Earth Crisis pledged to Destroy the Machines via their album of the same name, the band have re-recorded a couple of cuts from the record to do some more damage.
The Syracuse, NY group have announced their The Discipline EP will be delivered on 7-inch and CD on May 19 through Bullet Tooth. It's as-yet-unclear which songs from Destroy the Machines Earth Crisis have re-recorded for the four-song set, though the band apparently opted to undertake the trip down memory lane due to metallic hardcore album's lasting legacy.
"We think the songs on Destroy the Machines are still strong, and relevant, two decades later. We have always wanted to re-record them, and figured the 20 year anniversary of the album was a fitting occasion," guitarist Scott Crouse said in a statement. "Our intention isn't to erase the original versions, just offer another version we feel will offer the power and clarity the songs deserve."
The EP will feature two re-imagined tunes from the 1995 LP and include new versions of "Behind the Mask" and "Time of Strife," which had been demoed by the band in the early '90s. The songs had initially appeared on Earth Crisis' Firestorm demo tape, not to be confused with the more polished Firestorm EP from 1993.
The Discipline is the first new effort from Earth Crisis since their 2014 full-length, Salvation of Innocents.
