Having just completed the highest grossing tour ever, Ed Sheeran is ready to take a break from life on the road.
The U.K. singer-songwriter revealed to the crowd at his last of four homecoming shows in Ipswitch, Suffolk, last night (August 27) that he won't be playing shows for at least the next year and a half.
"As you may or not know, I've been on the 'Divide Tour' for over two years now, and this is the last day of the whole thing," he said. "There is something very bittersweet about it. I love that you guys are here and we are ending it in Ipswich. This is my last gig for probably 18 months."
Sheeran explained he would be spending the next while at home with his wife Cherry Seaborn, whom he married last year.
In total, Sheeran's tour consisted of 260 shows and grossed more than $736.7 million USD (as of earlier this month). He was playing to an average of 34,541 people a night, adding up to 9 million concertgoers across the duration of the tour.
Honestly, sounds like the dude deserves a break.
Earlier this year, Sheeran followed up ÷ with an album of collaborations called No. 6 Collaborations Project.
