When ex-Orange Juice front-man Edwyn Collins suffered two cerebral hemorrhages in 2005, the songwriter was not expected to survive, much less to continue on with his musical career. His medical setback left him partially paralysed, unable to strum a guitar and entering a lengthy rehabilitation program, whereby one of his daily routines involved sketching patterns of animals to regain lost dexterity. And while the 48-year-old Scottish songwriter was down, he has proven hes far from out.
In a seemingly unbelievable move, Collins has announced he will return to the stage with a short UK tour this spring. The seven dates come in support of Home Again, his sixth solo effort that was finished late last year in the wake of his near-death experience. Collins will also be releasing the title track from the album as a new single in May via Heavenly Records.
No word yet on any possible Canadian dates.
