Elbow Announce Release Details for New LP

When Elbow released The Seldom Seen Kid back in 2008, we called it "consistent and expertly composed." The album later went on to win the prestigious Mercury Prize, beating out the likes of Radiohead, Burial and the Last Shadow Puppets. Now, Elbow finally have its follow-up on the way.

The upcoming album, which will be the group's fifth, is titled Build a Rocket Boys! and will be out on March 7 in the UK. It was recorded at Salford, UK's Blueprint Studios with keyboardist Craig Potter acting as producer. This is the third consecutive time that Elbow have recorded at Blueprint.

In an interview back in the summer, singer Gus Garvey told BBC 6 that the album would explore many of his childhood memories. "It's quite a nostalgic thing. I've got a thing about growing up," he said. "I remember it being an amazing important time, so I've written a lot about that."

The other details of the album are still up in the air, such as tracklist and first single, as well as when the record will be out in North America. There is also no word as to which label will put out the record, but The Seldom Seen Kid came out via Polydor.

An update on the band's Facebook page adds, "Stay tuned for a special surprise on Boxing Day."
