Emeralds' Mark McGuire Gets Two-Disc Retrospective Comp Courtesy of Editions Mego

If you've been following the new wave of kosmische-oriented music coming from the American Midwest, chances are you've stumbled upon Mark McGuire. After all, as Emeralds' very own modern-day guitar hero, he stands as one of the fast-rising scene's major players. But the thing will McGuire is that he's more than a little prolific, with the Ohio guitarist having one of the most extensive and dizzying discographies out there thanks to seemingly never-ending array of cassette, CD-R and vinyl releases. Thankfully, Editions Mego is now helping McGuire fans play catch-up through an upcoming retrospective comp.

Simply dubbed A Young Person's Guide to Mark McGuire, the two-CD comp is heading our way on May 2 in the UK and May 10 in North America, collecting a pile of McGuire tracks culled from many of his limited and now out-of-print releases from the last four years.

The press release explains, "Although, only 24 years of age, McGuire has racked up an impressive canon which most artists twice his age would have problems delivering. With his expert use of loops and layers, as well a superb ear for killer melody hooks makes AYPGTMM simply an essential collection."

Unfortunately, there is no vinyl release for the compilation, but we're guessing that simply has to due with the sheer volume of material included here.

You can view the tracklisting below and head here for an extensive list of the tracks' origins. You can also pre-order the album at that link.

McGuire's last release on Editions Mego was last year's Exclaim!-approved Living with Yourself.
