Ewww! John Lennon's Tooth Goes Up for Auction

If you were grossed out last year when John Lennon's toilet was auctioned off, then you might want to look away. The latest personally invasive item to be auctioned off from the late Beatles legend is his tooth, which is expected to fetch at least £10,000 (about $16,000 Canadian).

The original owner of the tooth -- well, after John himself -- is Lennon's former housekeeper Dot Jarlett, who worked for the songwriter in the late '60s at his mansion in Surrey, UK. The housekeeper's son Barry told the BBC, "He was in the kitchen and he had this tooth which he had wrapped in a piece of paper. He said, 'Dot will you dispose of this,' and then he said, 'Or, as your daughter's a Beatles fan, you can give to her as a souvenir.'"

Lennon was apparently very fond of the housekeeper and even called her "Aunty Dot." She previously auctioned off a far less icky item: the jacket Lennon wore on the cover of Rubber Soul.

The tooth will be sold on November 5 in Stockport, a town in Greater Manchester. Karen Fairweather of Omega Auctions, said, "This is the most wonderful and weird item that we have ever had for sale. It is a truly unique item and it is really difficult to put a value on it. We are expecting it to achieve at least £10,000 but it is not unknown for these items as rare as this to reach six figures."

We understand that this is about as rare as memorabilia gets, but seriously -- would you pay thousands of dollars for this?
